CleanFilms has retired

Last night we watched a great movie called Envy, with cast Jack Black and Ben Stiller. It's a terribly funny movie about two friends and how one's financial success drives the other absolutely batty. Despite some mildly crude language, the main message of the movie is forgiveness.

When flicks like this come around, I have enjoyed sharing them with friends and family through CleanFilms.com1, but unfortunately the family-oriented company recently went out of business2 after a Hollywood filed a lawsuit. Now, there appears to be only one comparable service available to Christian families who want to enjoy this form of entertainment, and that's ClearPlay3.

The other, more constructive alternative, is to start reading books and playing board games. I guess we better dust off the ol' Scrabble board!

I am so glad to hear about that...might be very useful in the future. I really like movies and it is always hard to find out what the movie is really going to be like before you see it. Here is a website that rates and explains the movies: www.screenit.com. It describes all instances of violence and other situations so you can decide if the situations are okay to watch.

I also like to use the usccb.org website for movie information. They have a Catholic perspective, so anything that's objectionable (abortion, euthanasia, even things like divorce...) are noted. Whenever I rent something without checking that site first, I find that I regret it! It's so hard to find good movies these days that reflect objective values.
