Lucia is doing so well! She looks around in wonder all the time, sometimes she smiles (which sends her parents into a fit of excitement), she sleeps during the day and fusses at night, and she's barrelling through diaper after diaper. My mom summed it up well on the card she gave us, titled "The Patron Verse of Babyhood":
"...we shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed."
-- 1 Corinthians 15:511
In fact, we've been changing so many diapers that we're dreaming about them. Heather had one recently where, while changing Lucia's very wet diaper, our little angel looked up at mom and said, "big wet." That's pretty consistent with my dreams, too, where we're so proud of Lucia because she can talk. I guess this is what proud parents do -- dream about how special their children are and how quickly they develop.
But, much to our disappointment, Lucia cannot talk at just over 2 weeks old. However, she's taken on a new form of communication... grunting. Yup, our little piggy grunts when she's uncomfortable, when she gets a bath, when she has to "push"; she grunts all the time. Grandpa Stein, the hog-farmer, is pleased to know that one more piggy has been added to the litter.
We went to her first doctor's visit and found out that she's eating very well, since she'd gained about 1/2 of a pound in one week. By now, I'm sure that it's up to a whole pound.
And finally, what you've all been waiting for... more pictures. Today's theme is "family holding time". Lucia's grandparents and aunts have been making periodic visits, and we've caught much of them on film.
