Mr. Swiss Guard Papal Protector

I was having a rough day at work and feeling down, so Heather called to cheer me up.  "Have you heard the new Real Men of Genius commercial about the loud cell phone talker?"  The next thing I knew, I found this website1 where you can download every episode of the RMoG series.  So, naturally, I downloaded all 109 of them and made two mix CDs.

During dinner tonight, we rocked out to about 25 commercials.  Hilarious.  We were laughing so hard that we decided we ought to make some "Real Men of Jesus" commercials.  So, we buckled down and wrote a script, I recorded the instruments and vocals, and now we have our first song!  Check it out and let us know what you think.  You gotta love those Swiss Guards — so strong in the face of so much silliness.

We're brainstorming for ideas, so throw some at us and see what the song-machine produces.  What about that guy who takes up the collection at Mass?  Hmmm...

Joel, that is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! LOL :) It sounds like the commericials that are on TV, with all the different voices you used. I believe our imagination is a gift from God, and your certainly using it for good with some comedy too. Here's on idea- in salute to Christopher West's, "Women's God's Masterpiece" CD, you can make a song about The Genius of Women- ya know - "Real Women of Genius" can be the title.

Joel, I am sending you a bill for $80.32. After listening to your download, I soiled my expensive jeans. I blame you and hold you accountable!

So umm...is this released under a creative commons license? Cause I'd like to put it in my podcast, with a plug to your website and a link and all that jazz of course.

Great stuff. I laughed merrily.

Thank you for the chuckle! (Actually, it was more of a snorting laugh.)

I imagine that it would be easy to do this for any number of saints/biblical characters as well.

Jayson: Sure thing... have fun with it. I enjoy making these little recordings for fun, and if you want to share it with more people, all the better!

Be sure and post a reply on this page to your podcast, in case anyone here wants to listen. Yours in Christ, Joel.

That was great! Did you see the Kenrick Glennon Seminary's "Spam and Cheese" production a year or two ago when they had "Real Men of Jesus" skits scattered throughout the show? This reminded me of that:)

You mean we're not original? Oh dear!! And we thought we were so clever...
