Well, Joel beat me to the punch1 before I could do a cool post about the awesome card game, Mille Bornes2.
And before I go on, I have to warn you (since this is my first official blog aside from the BMSU, the newsletter that "started it all") that I'm not as good as Joel at making my text "linkified" for your convenience, but I'm sure I'll learn soon enough!
So, back to the topic at hand, Mille Borne is now a part of our marriage thanks to my parents, Don and Linda Casper. They have a bunch of old, great games from the 60's that we Casper girls grew up with...and MB is one of them.
I rediscovered the game when I was in college and the friend I taught it to loved it so much that she bought it off ebay! I'm not sure if I still have my parents' game set (whoops!) or if my old friend Keely bought me one too, so I'll have to check on that...my mom hates it when things "disappear".
I pulled the game out the other night when I rediscovered the fact that our back room coffee table is actually a trunk, and there are tons of games and fun things inside, including Hello Kitty Snap and a real space blanket!
Ever since, Joel and I have been addicted. Just in case you're wondering, we're tied 4-4 since we started playing nonstop last weekend. (Games are actually a series of hands played to 5000 points).
So, that's my version of our game craze. Friends and family, be forewarned! If you come over, we'll teach you how to play, and you'll be hooked for life :)

What's wrong with a French game?
The game itself is good, but I'm not too fond of the French. Granted they gave us fries, braids, the statue of liberty, and kisses...but I don't like their socialist infrastructure and how they critize the USA. By purchasing Mille Bornes, I'm supporting them indirectly.
Speaking of which, I should create an American Mille Bornes game. Better yet, how about Catholic Mille Bornes?? Or whatever the Latin translation of "Mille Bornes" is.
Peace!
Well Brent, I have to say that if you do buy Mille Bornes, you will be purchasing it from Milton Bradley, which is an American company and no funds will be going to France. So, I think it really wouldn't be so bad.
I guess you wouldn't like the French words though. Maybe we could use it as a way to bring out the good things about France! You know, like St. Joan of Arc!
