Hello from New Orleans! Heather, Lucia, and I are vacationing down here this week, and will attend the Unity Awards1 this Saturday night. The Unity Awards are likened to the Grammy's for Catholic Music, and this year I was nominated for 5 of them. I don't expect to win any, but if I do, I don't expect to be called up to stage (I'm not really sure how the ceremony works). Nevertheless, if you want to watch the awards, you should be able to see it streamed live this Saturday night, 7 pm central time, at this url.2
My good friend Matthew Baute3 (and fellow St. Louis Catholic musician) will perform one song at the ceremony, as well as many other Catholic musicians whom I admire. So consider it a free concert!
I hope you are doing well. Much love from The Big Easy!

Joel, I wish you nothing but the best and I hope you and your family are doing well, but I must say I am a bit uncomfortable with the idea of Christians competing against each other for awards designating who the best Christian is in a particular category. I haven't exactly solidified my feelings on this subject, however (and across the board, I can't stand award shows anyway), and would be interested in what you may have to say on it. God bless.
Good luck, Joel!!! We'll be thinking of you. We'll miss you all at the party Saturday afternoon. Have a safe trip back to St. Louis.
