Bad GoDaddy

Everyone loves the Super Bowl because of the commercials.  So, even though I never watch football, I'll usually sit down with the fam and watch the game, turning up the TV on the commercials.  This year, I only lasted about 20 minutes.

I won't go too much into what's out there — you probably saw it too.  Actually, most of them are pretty hilarious.  But one really bothered me, because it hits too close to home1.  GoDaddy, the company which I have been paying to host my domain name steindom.com, aired a commercial which pretty much secured my decision to use different company.

In an effort to protect your purity, I won't go into too much detail.  Suffice to say that GoDaddy is relying totally on sex appeal to sell their product.  It felt more like a scene which should be hidden behind an "R" rated movie, or even "X", but CBS (or whatever company was being sponsored) decided that it should air on public television, in homes across America.  One more reason that parents should throw their TV out with the bath water — or else let their children's values (and purity) be promulgated from the FCC.

Anyway, I'm obviously upset about this.  I just wanted to post this in case you use GoDaddy and would rather support their advertisements.

I actually had gotten a recomendation from another musician who's website is also hosted by godaddy.com. I was considering going with them to set up my site.

I can understand your discust with their super bowl comercial. I didn't see it, but I heard about it(water cooler talk) and I agree with you. I don't want to be funding that sort filth.

Two years I sacraficed watching television for Lent. Up until then the TV was a big part of my life. I grew up with the TV as my babysitter much of the time. Giving up television for 40+ Days helped me realize how much I didn't need it in my life and how much of my time it wasted filling my mind with junk.

I still watch TV today, but the TV I watch is much less(I find more productive things to do) and I choose carefully what I allow myself to watch.(mostly Discovery, TLC, History)I listen to less and less Radio aswell for the same reasons.

I am that musician who recommended godaddy to these guys -- I apologize! I was disgusted as well, and I'll be switching to someone else too. This year overall was pretty bad for the commercials. Several others really got to me, like the one with people slapping each other, and the one with men tearing off their clothes to touch the truck, etc, etc. Thank God that I happened to be watching with a few priests and other devout Catholics--we decided to start muting the commercials and to turn to EWTN during halftime. Fr. Corapi beats Prince any day of the week.

I've always tried to take commercials with a grain of salt and not let them bother me. I did not see any of the Superbowl commercials (I'm not a football fan). But since you're on the subject . . . there are 2 or 3 commercials that use rear-ends to advertise. What is this all about??!!??!! I DO NOT want to see people's butts jumping around on my TV!!! Sorry for the outburst, but I feel better now. Thanks. P.S. I'm Heather's Aunt. Heather, Joel, & Lucia . . . I will miss you something terrible when you go. But, I wish you all the luck and happiness in Atlanta!!!

Diane, sounds like we agree on the commercial problem. I haven't seen the jumping butts, but I wouldn't like that either!

So, whom did you decide to go with instead of GoDaddy?
